Windows Server tutorial part 5: DHCP

What is DHCP ?
DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. It is client/server protocol that automatically provide IP to all hosts which present in network.
DHCP Server is plays an important part in large scale of network. DHCP helps to administrator to provide the IP to all systems or host in whole network and also monitored. Whenever new system is connect to network DHCP automatically assign an IP address to that system.

How to Setup a DHCP Server?

To setup DHCP Server follow the steps:

Step 1:- Click on start > click on Server Manager > click on add roles > select DHCP and click Next

Step 2:-  a wizard will open give the DNS Server Name and  IP address such as 192.168.1.5 and click Next 

Step 3:- Click Next again to skip the WINS setup, this will bring you to creating a DHCP Scope, Where you can Click the Add Button

Step 4:- now a wizard will open to add scope give the Scope name , Enter your fist IP Address that you want available to client to use, Enter your last IP address that you want available to client to use, Enter the Subnet mask type such as 255.255.255.0, give default gateway 

Step5:-  Now click on Install

Step 6:- Now you install and configure DHCP in windows server 2008.
